Vishesh Films’ latest ‘Jashnn’ reminds you of the kind of low-on-stars, high-on-emotions films the banner used to make when Mahesh Bhatt was at the helm. The women are strong and needy and vulnerable, all at the same time.

‘Dekh Re Dekh’, which started life as `Dekh Bhai Dekh’ till a court order prevented its use, is an odd-bod. It’s set in the middle of nowhere, populated with nowhere people, busy getting nowhere slowly.

The plot of this comedy revolves around the character of Guru (KK Menon), who is a small time thief, and Faujdaar(Anupam Kher), who is a gangster and a loan shark. All the other characters come and go in accordance with the need of these two main protagonists.

Filmmaking standards in Bollywood seem to have gone really high. Producers now opt for Sylvester Stallone over Sunny Deol for that mandatory special appearance in the climax as the messiah who saves the heroine from hoodlums.

When a hardcore commercial flick gets a standing ovation and a huge round of applause at the end of the show, you know that there is something definitely right that the director has done.

Like all other films this week, this one too is interestingly titled. But Aloo Chaat’s content is not as palatable as the film’s mouth-watering name.
