Sinha, Raza Murad, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Suhasini Mulay, Ila Arun, Rajesh Vivek, Pramod Moutho, Surendra Pal, Visswa Badola, Pramatesh Mehta, Shaji Choudhary, Manava Naik, Disha Vakani, Abeer Abrar, Indrajit Sarkar, Aman Dhaliwal, Nikitin Dheer; Director: Ashutosh Gowariker; Music: A. R. Rahman; Rating: ***
Over the last few weeks, television channels have been flooded with debates over the relationship between Jodhaa and Akbar. Was she his wife or his daughter-in-law? The question has seen many answers, arguments and counter arguments. So it isn’t surprising to see a disclaimer even before Ashutosh Gowariker’s epic saga starts.
We are told that while the name of Akbar’s wife remains a topic of debate, historians have agreed that the Emperor did marry a Hindu princess. Further, it acknowledges the existence of other versions of the story, and suggests that this is just one of them. What it does not tell you though that it is about 3 hours and 40 minutes long.
Having said that however it must be mentioned that if you can actually sit through this phenomenally long film, you may actually walk out feeling quite pleased with the effort.
As the title of the film suggests, Ashuthosh’s dream project tells the story of two people who meet circumstantially and end up falling in love. It is just incidental that these two people happen to be the Emperor and the Empress of India. Needless to say that this puts them (and the filmmaker) in a rather curious situation. Because there’s so much happening around them that it becomes difficult for their love to reach fruition. And sure enough it becomes a bit of a problem for Ashu to film their story too.
So just what does one concentrate upon: the dynastical politics in Rajputana or the kitchen politics within Akbar’s household? If Ashu is to be blamed he should be for not being able to strike a balance between these two.
Yes, the narrative flags at various points. Yes, you keep looking at your watch. Yes, you want to tell Ashu to get on with it. Yet you sit through it all. Why? Because Jodhaa Akbar, whether we like to admit it or not, is a story that dreams are made of.
Beyond all the glamour and politics, the marriage between Jodhaa and Akbar was union not so much of two souls but of two cultures. And somehow stories like these have always fascinated us.
Think about it, how many times have we sat up and heard out the tales of colleagues and friends who married outside their religion? It’s the very same thing with Jodhaa Akbar – the story and the film.
The magnitude of the canvas is indeed very breathtaking. However it is this very thing that tends to get overwhelming. There are chances that the dialogues and language of the characters may put you off. But we’d say give it a break. If you can stand the archaic English in Elizabeth or Shakespeare in Love, we don’t see any reason why archaic Urdu and Hindi should be such a problem.
If Jodhaa Akbar belongs to someone it belongs to Hrithik Roshan. Aishwarya Rai looks pretty as a doll, but it’s Hrithik who delivers all the goods. Watch out for that scene where Hrithik gets an epiphany and joins the Sufi dancers in trance.
As for the war sequences, they could have well been done without. Ashu doesn’t get too creative here. But he does a superb job when it comes to bringing out the chemistry between Hrithik and Aishwarya.
The palpable but tentative romance between Jodhaa and Akbar is beautifully complemented by AR Rahman’s music. Khwaja mere Khwaja, remains our favourite song, though the rest are lovely too.
It is the choreography, however that leaves a lot to be desired. Marhaba (Chinni and Rekha Prakash) is a filled with clichéd dance moves and outdated camera angles.
In another song, there is a part where Akbar sings to his beloved and that little voice inside you says, “Hey, they didn’t tell us that in our history books!” But Jodhaa Akbar has never claimed to be entirely truthful to history (in fact no one can probably ever be).
However, it reminds us what critics for the longest time have demanded – the need to free art from the shackles of history.
So even though it tends to be long and sometimes boring like a history lesson, Jodhaa Akbar in its essence is a boy-meets-girl story. And to write off the story entirely just because the guy takes a little too long to woo his sweetheart, would be a little unfair.

well i really loved the movie…it really tells about how a real emperor akbar is! how he raised himself…his views….!!! for those people who say the movie is boring… i have to say …u have to understand that its a period flick…now u cant expect people and babes coming in ****** to entertain u for 3 hours…so grow up on that….people who are in true love and real love would find the last song really…romantic…and all the songs are wonderful… i watched it yesterday! i was really touched by that scene where Hrithik gets an epiphany and joins the Sufi dancers in trance and that wonderful song about azeem of shan …just brilliant. jodha akbar made me feel nostalgically in love…with that some1 close 2 my heart! aish has done a very good job..of all the good looking girls in d industry ash is so mature when it comes to acting it out! she does it so well! hrithik and ash chemistry is just electrifying! …Ashutosh Gowariker should be given full support and credit for how he showed mughals and rajput… he never ever offended any 1…and when u see the movie u would understand it….the controversy u get to see in rajasthan is untimely! creative freedom is needed sometimes …and somethings are better left to imagination than past! hi5 for the movie!

hey friends!! Its a blog and everbody has the right to express their own opinion. If someone finds someone else’s opinion as unconvincing, it doesn’t mean one has to use offensive scripts against the latter.
My personal opinion about the movie is that it’s a ver good movie if not the best of all I have ever watched. It takes a lot to make a movie and I think the director has done a great job in posing such a wonderful work of art in the modern era along with the glamours and googoos and gaagaas and giggles.
Regards

This is the best movie i had ever seen. I have read akbar nama and i am a post graduate in history. The director clearly recorded history without altering even a single step. film would have been good if akbar was played by some ‘male’ character. an actor with eunch like dancing movements even while sword fighting failed to be convincing akbar. rather he is an insult to akbar.

I had the chance to watch this movie last night and may I say that it was superb! The epic story of Jodhaa & Akbar is exceptionally caught on film through the brilliant cinematography, costumes, sets, and of course through the wonderful artistry exemplified by both Hrithik and Aishwarya. I am so happy that Ashutosh has yet again brought Bollywood to a whole new level of film making. A definite must see for those who can appreciate such works of art.

In the begining of the moviee i thougth Hrithik is going down in this movie but the movie really rises the Hrithik’s image double… I don’t know why some guys are not like this movie. I think they won’t understand the movie and won’t understand language(URDU).

I think Akbar role sud’ve given to RDX ( Feroz khan from movie Welcome)..becuase he did true insaaf in that film……

i saw the movie yesterday and i was a little dissapointed… its weakness lies mainly in editing because most of the sequences like the hritik and ash sworfight or the hailing of akbar by the entire kingdom ARE REALLY PRETTY GOOD! maybe a little more attention to story;ine would have also helped.. and i loved both akbars real and foster mom.. excellent performences

Overall:
The first half of movie is “BORING”. The second half of the movie is ok with bits and pieces missing here and there. My reservation is towards the heroism granted to AKBAR instead of Joddhabai whose real historian anthological name is Rani Heerabai. The story has been misinterpreted to betray Vedic culture.ACCORDING TO VEDAS: RAJPUT GIRLS WERE FORBIDDEN TO MARRY MUSLIMS NOT because of religion and culture but because of the VEDIC CULTURE and it was a sin for Rajput women to marry a muslim in 1500 ad. Islam invaded Rajesthan and Acra and Delhi but failed to conquer and rule BHARATI INDIA thanks to PUNJAB and RAJESTHANI EMPERORS. Albeit a major component of India got stolen from it by the Afghanistani Muslims and from thereon Pakistan was born, this movie gives me NOTHING MORE THAN GRIEF. However, I failed to see the truth in the movie that has been totally fabricated. Why make such expensive movie and accredit it to Muslim imperialism? Imperialism is imperialism and from it emanates terrorism and ranks of violences…I am appreciative of the art effects and the wonderful movie created but saddened that it is a false heroism!
ON THE WHOLE: A POLITICALLY INCORRECT MOVIE NOT FOR MY LIKING ANYWAY. I loved the making of it though. Well done to the crew!!!!! Please refrain in future from showing such highly sensitive political movies.
45. ~~SuPeRnOvA~~
Fantastic movie…long butperiod film buffs will find it worth every minute of the 3+ hours.
Superb cinematography, especially during the battle scenes; superb direction of the Jodha-Akbar romance. All the leads deliver really good performances; Ila Arun as Akbar’s surrogate mother gives a MIND-BLOWING performance.
The sets are breath-taking; and the music soul stirring..
But the extras in the battle scenes are PATHETIC!!! They should have atleast made sure some more enthusiastic junior artistes filled the first four rows of the armies!! Really laughable acting by the extras!!

Mr Khalid mohammad…… How can you insult a movie that potrays indian history in such a magnificient way, that is so fulfilling and captivating and that is getting huge praises from masses all over india.
KM, you are one of those people who would give 5 stars to the movies such as “kis kis ki kismat” or “buddha mar gaya”
because you only like those movies which has double meanings and cheap comendy in every scene.
You do not have any appreciation for a great movie which potrays indian history so beautifully which u can watch with ur whole family.
Seriously…do you have anything personally against Ashutosh or hritik or Ash. Or you have been paid hefty money by directors of cheap comedies to white such ripping reviews.
HT , you better give it a thought to retire this reviewer of yours or he will throw you out of business.
48. AG rocks
I have seen the movie twice already and I am going to watch it again sometime later..
Keeping all other controversies aside I found the movie very fresh and very romantic.. Hrithik and Ash did a fantastic job.. ARR did good job but could have been slightly better..

One cannot flaw or critically downgrade Jodha Akbar for its making. Fabulously made. After Devdas, this seems like a beautiful film. However, Rajput Rani’s were warriors and such heroism were missing from the factual drama. As such, Rajput princesses were enforced into marrying Muslim Moghuls out of fear and in this emanated - the new race of Hindu-Muslim or Muslims. Some of the Hindu women married Muslims and converted their religions even and from that emerged the whole new territorial culture of Islam invading India. I have NOTHING against Islam religion as such. But, the movie does show succintly the obvious mannerism of becoming subserviant and submissive towards the bully of imperialism, subtly and so sophisticated in dialogues one should be clever enough to capture the wrath of Islam invasions over INDIA. WHY INDIA COLLAPSED ??????????????? THAT IS THE QUESTION THE MOVIE NEEDED TO ADDRESS AT THE CONQUEST OF AKBAR-JODHA
NOW CLEARLY NICELY PUT: AKBAR WAS ILLITERATE AND KNEW VERY LITTLE IN LIFE. STRATEGICALLY RANI HEERAKUNVAR [AKA JODHABAI] WAS TECHNICALLY AGAINST MARRYING A MUSLIM BUT AGAINST THE WILL OF HER FATHER FOR THE SAKE OF KEEPING PEACE OF HER PEOPLE SHE AGREES TO SELL HERSELF TO A RICH AKBAR……..WHO EVENTUALLY DOES BECOME A NOBLE MAN…….TRUE. HOWEVER THE REIGN OF AKBAR was cruel slaying of many of our prominent rajas, and royal kings of Rajesthan and from the sad invasions, lot was lost to the AFGHANISTANIS, ARAB WORLD and the MIDDLE EAST.
WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN 1500 AD AND 1800?
IT IS FINE TO SHOW ALL THESE AFTER MATH….WHY NOT POINT OUT HOW OUR IDENTITY WAS STOLEN FROM US THEN YOU CAN SAY THAT TO RULE INDIA, ONE MUST MARRY A MUSLIM OR ALLOW A MUSLIM TO BE OUR PRIME MINISTER…………..UTTER RUBBISH……….
GANDHISM FAILED AT THIS ISSUE
GANDHI FAILED ON MUSLIM
GANDHI WAS SHOT DEAD MY A MUSLIM
HOW DOES ONE ALLOW ISLAM TERRORISM TO REIGN IN A COUNTRY THAT IS ON ITS WAY TO FREEDOM OF HUMANITY HOW HOW HOW
STUPIDITY AND PATHETIC COULD BE LOVE THAT IS SO GLAMOUROUS
GLAMOUR CANNOT BE THE ANSWER TO OUR PRESENT DAY INDIA……….
INDIA NEEDS CHANGE OF ATTITUDE - THE HATRED AND ANGER AND THE GRIEVING AGGRESSION BETWEEN A HINDU AND ANOTHER HINDU TO VANISH, THE CASTE SYSTEM CREATED BY THE MAN MADE INSTITUTIONAL GURUS AND SYSTEMS AND CULTS TO BE ABANDONED YES.
WE NEED TO REALISE ALL TOGETHER THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY FOR US BHARATIS - TO APPRECIATE EDUCATE OUR YOUNGER GENERATION CHILDREN OF OUR OWN CULTURAL VALUES NOT THAT OF ISLAM OR MUSLIM IMPERIALISM…..
GROW UP GUYS GROW UP
SO MUCH DISCOURAGEMENT TO OUR OWN KIND……WITHIN OUR OWN KIND AND BETWEEN OUR OWN KIND
IT IS TIME INDIA WAS HANDED OVER TO PUNJABIS AND THAT PUNJAB SHOULD BECOME THE RULER OF INDIA HAIL PUNJAB HAIL GURU NANAK HAIL WAHE GURU

Historical facts say that Islam has been imperialistic—and would still like to be, if only for religious reasons. Many Muslim clerics, scholars, and activists, for example, would like to impose Islamic law around the world. Historical facts say that Islam, including Muhammad, launched their own Crusades against Christianity and Hinduism long before the European Crusades. Today, Muslim polemicists and missionaries, who believe that Islam is the best religion in the world, claim that the West has stolen Islamic lands and that the West (alone) is imperialistic [untrue]. Imperialism, a word that has reached metaphysical levels and that is supposed to stop all debates and answer all questions, explains why Islamic countries have not kept up with the West. The word ‘crusade’ (derived from the Latin word for ‘cross’) in an Islamic context means a holy war or jihad. It is used as a counterweight to the Muslim accusation that only the Europeans launched crusades. Muslims seem to forget that they had their own, for several centuries before the Europeans launched theirs as a defense against the Islamic expansion. The Islamic Crusades were very successful. The Byzantines and Persian Empires had worn themselves out with fighting, so a power vacuum existed. Into this vacuum stormed Islam. Many people regard Islam as an innocent victim, and the Byzantines and Europeans as bullies. This was not always the case. But the truth is this: Islam moved aggressively during the Caliphates of Abu Bakr and Umar in the seventh century, with other Caliphs continuing well beyond that; only then did the Western Europeans react (see 1094).It must be noted that Islamic expansion continues until well into the seventeenth century. For example, the Muslims Crusaders conquer Constantinople in 1453 and unsuccessfully besiege Vienna for the second time in 1683 (earlier in 1529). By the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the Islamic Crusades receded, due to Western resistance. Since that time until the present, Islamic civilization has not advanced very far [thank god]. Two questions are posed and then answered at length.
Besides following Muhammad, why else did the Muslims launch their Crusades out of Arabia in the first place into the lands of foreign territories??????????????????????????????
It is only natural to ask why Islam launched its own Crusades long before Christendom did and why did Islam bring chaos of selling the RICH wealth of INDIA to British Imperialists??????????????
In the complicated Muslim Crusades that lasted several centuries before the European Crusades, it is difficult to come up with a grand single theory as to what launched these Crusades. Because of this difficulty, we let three scholars and two eyewitness participants analyze the motives of the early Islamic Crusades.
Muslim polemicists like Sayyid Qutb assert that Islam’s mission is to correct the injustices of the world. What he has in mind is that if Islam does not control a society, then injustice dominates it, ipso facto. But if Islam dominates it, then justice rules it (In the Shade of the Qur’an, vol. 7, pp. 8—15). Islam is expansionist and must conquer the whole world to express Allah’s perfect will on this planet, so Qutb and other Muslims believe.
Once [Abu Bakr] crushed the rebellion [against Islamic rule within Arabia], Abu Bakr may well have decided to alleviate internal tensions by employing the unruly energies within the ummah [Muslim community] against external foes. Whatever the case, in 633 Muslim armies began a new series of campaigns in Persia, Syria and Iraq. (Jerusalem: One City, Three Faiths, New York: Ballantine, 1997, p. 226).
Armstrong also notes that the ‘external foes’ to Islam in Arabia in 633 are the Persians and the Byzantines, but they are too exhausted after years of fighting each other to pose a serious threat to Islam. Therefore, it moved into a ‘power vacuum,’ unprovoked (Armstrong p. 227). She simply does not know with certainty why Muslims marched northward out of Arabia.
3. Religion, economy, and political control
Fred M. Donner, the dean of historians specializing in the early Islamic conquests, cites three large factors for the Islamic Crusades. First, the ideological message of Islam itself triggered the Muslim ruling elite simply to follow Muhammad and his conquests; Islam had a divinely ordained mission to conquer in the name of Allah. (The Early Islamic Conquests, Princeton UP, 1981, p. 270). The second factor is economic. The ruling elite ‘wanted to expand the political boundaries of the new state in order to secure even more fully than before the trans—Arab commerce they had plied for a century or more’ (p. 270). The final factor is political control. The rulers wanted to maintain their top place in the new political hierarchy by having aggressive Arab tribes migrate into newly conquered territories (p. 271).
Thus, these reasons they have nothing to do with just wars of self—defense. Early Islam was merely being aggressive without sufficient provocation from the surrounding Byzantine and Persian Empires.
4. Sheer thrill of conquest and martyrdom
Khalid al—Walid (d. 642), a bloodthirsty but superior commander of the Muslim armies at the time, also answers the question as to why the Muslims stormed out of Arabia, in his terms of surrender set down to the governor of al—Hirah, a city along the Euphrates River in Iraq. He is sent to call people to Islam or pay a ‘protection’ tax for the ‘privilege’ of living under Islamic rule (read: not to be attacked again) as dhimmis or second—class citizens. Says Khalid:
‘I call you to God and to Islam. If you respond to the call, you are Muslims: You obtain the benefits they enjoy and take up the responsibilities they bear. If you refuse, then [you must pay] the jizyah. If you refuse the jizyah, I will bring against you tribes of people who are more eager for death than you are for life. We will fight you until God decides between us and you.’ (Tabari, The Challenge to the Empires, trans. Khalid Yahya Blankinship, NY: SUNYP, 1993, vol. 11, p. 4; Arabic page 2017)
Thus, according to Khalid, religion is early Islam’s primary motive (though not the only one) of conquering people.
In a short sermon, Abu Bakr says:
. . . Indeed, the reward in God’s book for jihad in God’s path is something for which a Muslim should love to be singled out, by which God saved [people] from humiliation, and through which He has bestowed nobility in this world and the next. (Tabari 11:80 / 2083—84)
Thus, the Caliph repeats the Quran’s trade of this life for the next, in an economic bargain and in the context of jihad (cf. Suras 4:74; 9:111 and 61:10—13). This offer of martyrdom, agreeing with Donner’s first factor, religious motivation, is enough to get young Muslims to sign up for and to launch their Crusades out of Arabia in the seventh century.
Khalid also says that if some do not convert or pay the tax, then they must fight an army that loves death as other people love life (see 634).
5. Improvement of life over that in Arabia
But improvement of life materially must be included in this not—so—holy call. When Khalid perceived that his Muslim Crusaders desired to return to Arabia, he pointed out how luscious the land of the Persians was:
‘Do you not regard [your] food like a dusty gulch? By God, if struggle for God’s sake and calling [people] to God were not required of us, and there were no consideration except our livelihood, the wise opinion would [still] have been to strike this countryside until we possess it’. . . . (Tabari 11:20 / 2031)
Khalid was from Mecca. At the time of this ‘motivational’ speech, the Empire of Persia included Iraq, and this is where Khalid is warring. Besides his religious goal of Islamizing its inhabitants by warfare, Khalid’s goal is to ‘possess’ the land.
Like Pope Urban II in 1095 exhorting the Medieval Crusaders to war against the Muslim ‘infidels’ for the first time, in response to Muslim aggression that had been going on for centuries, Abu Bakr gives his own speech in 634, exhorting Muslims to war against the ‘infidels,’ though he is not as long—winded as the Pope.
Muslim polemicists believe that Islam spread militarily by a miracle from Allah. However, these five earth—bound reasons explain things more clearly.
Did the Islamic Crusades force conversions by the sword?
Historical facts demonstrate that most of the conquered cities and regions accepted the last of three options that were enforced by the later Muslim Crusaders: (1) fight and die, (2) convert and pay the zakat tax; (3) keep their Biblical faith and pay the jizya tax. Most preferred to remain in their own religion.
Muslims who slashed and burned and forced conversions did not wander off from the origins of Islam, but followed it closely.
It is only natural that the Quran would be filled with references to jihad and qital, the latter word meaning only fighting, killing, warring, and slaughtering. Textual reality matches historical reality in the time of Muhammad. And after.
But this means that the Church had to fight back or be swallowed up by an aggressive religion over the centuries. Thus, the Church did not go out and conquer in a mindless, bloodthirsty, and irrational way—though the Christian Crusades were far from perfect but they did not kill ruthlessly to bring fear and trauma.
Islam was the aggressor in its own Crusades, long before the Europeans responded with their own imperialism and in the main British Imperialism.

Muslim astrocities
The MOVIE FAILS in the factual depiction and portray in full. Totally fabricated personalised ritual of a RICH MAN’S EGOCENTRIC GAME 0 by the way: Sharmila Tagore: You should have banned this movie but since you are married to a muslim you allowed to slip off your fingers……HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
For generations of Muslim leaders it has been Islam’s universal vision of conquest as Epitomized in the Prophet’s summons to fight the unbelievers wherever they might be found.
From its rise in the early seventh century to the abolition of the caliphate in 1924 by Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk), Islam constituted the linchpin of Middle Eastern politics, and the term Islamism, as I understand it, refers to the desire to restore this religious-political order. As a universal [fanatic] religion, Islam envisages a global political order in which all humankind will live under Muslim rule as either believers or subject communities and obliges all free, male, adult Muslims to carry out an uncompromising “struggle in the path of Allah,” or jihad. This goal need not necessarily be pursued by the sword; it can be achieved through demographic growth and steady conversion of the local populations by “an army of preachers and teachers who will present Islam in all languages and in all dialects.” But should peaceful means prove insufficient, physical force can readily be brought to bear. This is a vision by no means confined to “Islamists.” I would rather refer to the millenarian confrontation between the worlds of Islam and Christianity as a “clash of imperialisms” rather than a “clash of civilizations.” But then, while the West had lost its imperialist ambitions by the mid-twentieth century (having lost its religious messianism centuries earlier), the fuel of Islamic imperialism remains as volatile as ever, and this ambition for world domination is the primary threat confronting the West today.

A major part of the history of India is characterized by two major foreign rules: the Islamic invasion and the British occupation. The Islamic invasion started with the assault of Muhammad bin Qassim in 712 on the order of Hajjaj, the governor of what is now Iraq, and it took until 1690 for the Muslim rulers to conquer India completely. The fall of Islamic rule started with the British East India Company’s capture of Bengal in 1757, during the days of Industrial Revolution in Europe. The British rulers took almost 150 years to capture the entire sub-continent from the hands of its Muslim rulers.
*****India, before the Islamic invasion, was one of the world’s great civilizations that matched its contemporaries, both in the East and the West, in the realms of philosophy, mathematics, and natural science. Indian mathematicians discovered the number zero and algebra (Bijganita in Sanskrit). After the Islamic invasion, these texts were translated into Arabic and Persian and were transmitted to the Islamic world and ultimately to Europe via Spain. Muslims mistakenly and unfairly take credit of these contributions to Mathematics and Science as their won. India’s sculptures were magnificent and sensual and her architectures were ornate and spellbinding. Following the Islamic invasion, many of these indigenous achievements, became part of so-called Islamic civilization.
There has been too much of talk about the “divide and rule” policy of the British Raj where British administrators had created division between Hindus and the Muslims during their rule in India. An overwhelming majority of the sub-continent people believe this policy to be the root cause of communal troubles that we witness in India today. There is a deeply entrenched belief that the concept of religious intolerance between the Hindus and the Muslims was totally absent in India until the British devised this malevolent scheme to keep the Hindus and Muslims engaged in fighting each other. Many people in the sub-continent believe that this was a clever ploy so that they (the British) could continue to rule India while the people remained divided over religious disharmony. There cannot be any bigger untruth than the assertion that religious intolerance never existed in Indian soil until the British invented it. The truth is that religious tolerance and harmony hardly ever existed in the sub-continent throughout the centuries of Islamic rule. Destruction of temples, oppression and forced conversion of the Hindus, especially around the urban areas all over India, were common phenomenon during the Islamic rule. The Bahmani sultans in central India made it a rule to kill 100,000 Hindus a year. In 1399, Teimur killed 100,000 Hindus IN A SINGLE DAY, and many more on other occasions [Negationism in India]. Even during the late period of the Islamic domination of India, Emperor Aurangzeb (rule 1658-1707) re-imposed the “religion tax or Jiziya” on the Hindus and other people of indigenous religions. Aurangzeb was a champion destroyer of Hindu temples. Amongst the famous temples he destroyed were: the Kashi Vishvanath, one of the most sacred places of Hinduism, Krishna’s birth temple in Mathura, the rebuilt Somnath temple on the coast of Gujurat, the Vishnu temple, overlooking Benares that was replaced with the Alamgir mosque (Alamgir is another name of Aurangzeb), and the Treta-ka-Thakur temple in Ayodhya. Aurangzeb’s own official chronicles have recorded mind-blowing figures of temple destruction. Aurangzeb had ordered his provincial governors to destroy all schools and temples of the pagans and to make a complete end to all pagan teachings and practices. Hasan Ali Khan came and said that 172 temples in the area had been destroyed… His majesty went to Chittor and 63 temples were destroyed. Abu Tarab, appointed to destroy the idol-temples of Amber, reported that 66 temples had been razed to the ground. Aurangzeb did not stop at destroying temples only, their users were also often wiped out; even his own brother, Dara Shikoh, was executed for taking an interest in Hindu religion. The Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur Singh was beheaded because he objected to Aurangzeb’s forced conversions. Even during the rule of Mohammad Shah after Aurangzeb’s death, Persian ruler Nadir Shah invaded of India (1738-39) and killed an estimated 200,000 people in Northern India alongside plundering and looting. The Islamic assault on India started in the early 8th century, on the order of Hajjaj, the ruler of present-day Iraq. Starting in 712 the raiders, commanded by Muhammad bin Qasim, demolished temples, shattered sculptures, plundered palaces and killed vast numbers of men. It took three whole days to slaughter the inhabitants of the city of Debal followed by taking their women and children to slavery, including the taking of young women as *** slaves. Nearly 16,000 people were slaughtered by Muhammad bin Qasim’s early exploits of slaughter and destruction between 997-1021. The acts of destruction of Hindu temples and Buddhist monasteries etc. by the Muslim invaders in India have no parallel in the history of any conquest!!There have been descriptions of slaughtering the Hindu priests or the protectors of the temples as a ritual for purification of the place of idol-worship with the blood of the infidels. Such vivid descriptions of savagery mostly come from the works of the Muslim historians and writers, one of them include even the highly liberal and benevolent disciple of great Sufi dervish, Nizamuddin Awliya. India, before the advent of Islamic imperialism, was not exactly a zone of complete tranquility and peace like many other parts of the world. There were plenty of wars fought by Hindu princes. Despite all these wars, the Hindus had observed some time-honored conventions sanctioned by the Sastras. The Brahmins and the Bhikshus were never molested. The cows were never killed. The temples were never touched. The chastity of women was never violated. The non-combatants were never killed or captured. A human habitation was never attacked unless it was a fort. The civil population was never plundered. War booty was an unknown item in the calculations of conquerors. The martial classes, who clashed, mostly in open spaces, had a code of honor. Sacrifice of honor for victory or material gain was deemed as worse than death.
Islamic imperialism came with a different code - the Sunnah of the Prophet. It required its warriors to fall upon the helpless civil population after a decisive victory had been won on the battlefield. It required them to sack and burn down villages and towns after the defenders had died fighting or had fled. The cows, the Brahmins, and the Bhikshus invited their special attention in mass murders of non-combatants. The temples and monasteries were their special targets in an orgy of pillage and arson. Those whom they did not kill, they captured and sold as slaves. The magnitude of the booty looted even from the bodies of the dead, was a measure of the success of a military mission. And they did all this as mujahids (holy warriors) and ghazls (kafir-killers) in the service of Allah and his Last Prophet. It is estimated that the Islamic conquest and rule in India may have resulted in killing of an estimated 50-80 million Hindus and other indigenous religion people. Such a towering figure of destruction of human lives by the Muslim rulers of India may appear a suspect. However, in the war of independence of Bangladesh, the Pakistanis killed 2-3 million people in just 9 month in the age of modern civilization and the world hardly took a notice of it. Hence, it is hardly impossible that Islamic rulers might have had condemned up to 80 million indigenous people to death in a vast region in a long span of almost 1000 years in the medieval age of barbarity. Muslims, on the other hand, never conformed to modernity and never took interest in modern secular education introduced by the British terming it un-Islamic and were left behind. The much hyped up “divide and rule” policy of the British has been consumed voraciously by the Hindus and the Muslims, the progressive and the obscurantist, and the liberals and the zealots alike. Yes, in the Sepoy Mutiny (Shipahi Biplob) of 1857, the Hindus did not participate as vigorously as did the Muslims. Why should they, anyway? Muslim rulers were still ruling some good parts of India. Was it going to be a wise a decision for the Hindus to join hand with the Muslims to drive away the British and establish the Nawabi and Mughal rule once again? They were definitely more privileged under the British Raj than they were under the Muslim rulers. The slavery of the Muslims once again was not a better choice, and the Hindus did just the right thing. The British rulers might have had exploited the huge chasm that existed between the Hindus and Muslims as a result of immense atrocities on the majority indigenous religion people and of massive destruction of their religious institutions by the Muslim invaders all throughout the Islamic domination of India. Only at the ***-end of the British rule in India, the Hindu-Muslim tension flared up in a dangerous way. There has been a lot of talks and condemnations of the British role in creating Hindu-Muslim divide - yet the contribution of the British rulers in this Hindu-Muslim tension and in the resulting riots in the run-up to independence of India has not been clearly established. What we know for sure is the fact that, as Britain was counting days to end her imperial rule in India, the Muslims started a vigorous campaign for a separate state fearing that they may have to be under the majority Hindu rule in an independent and democratic India. They could never really forsake their pride of subjugating and persecuting the Hindus for centuries. That was why they needed a separate state. As this religious zealotry of the Muslims got strength, there arose the nationalistic Hindu zealotry, and that led to the much of the tension and blood-bath between the Hindus and the Muslims. Muslims came to India as barbaric invaders and ruled for centuries. In the process, Muslim rulers mercilessly oppressed and even killed the indigenous people in great numbers, looted their properties, destroyed their religious institutions and symbols, took them as slaves and raped their women. The British Raj had its own share of cruelty, whatever may be the magnitude. The bulk of the cruelty, that the British inflicted, was during the event of Sepoy Mutiny or the first war of independence in 1857. Surely, the British atrocity in the Sepoy Mutiny was gory. But atrocities were committed by both sides involved in that war. It should be understood that in the 1857 war, the British became more vindictive and cruel only after the Cawnpore (Kanpur) episode when Nana Sahib betrayed and some 210 women and children in his custody were butchered with knives and hatchets into pieces and thrown down a well. This cold-blooded murder of the innocent women and children enraged the British, including the public in Britain, so much so, that every captured rebel soldier, guilty or not, was ordered to be hanged or blow them from the mouth of cannons if facilities existed. The latter was a traditional practice used by the Muslim rulers which the British rulers had banned considering barbaric but they reintroduced it following the Cawnpore incidence. Thus, although the British committed brutality in putting down the Sepoy Mutiny, it never affected the non-combatants and the innocent women and children as was the case with Islamic brutality in India.
Indeed, India had a very high standard in education and science in pre-Islamic India. But the Muslim invaders and rulers destroyed all schools and educational institutions and converted them into madrasas. As a result, India did not make any notable contribution in these areas throughout the centuries of Islamic rule. And given how the minorities are being treated in the Muslim countries and what happened to the Hindus in Bangladesh (~33% in 1947 to ~10% now) and Pakistan (~15% upon 1947 independence to ~1% now), one can be certain that Hindus would still have been doing the slavery and experiencing subjugation under the Muslims if the British never stepped onto India.
One may rise objections that such brutal and potentially explosive facts should not be spoken about lest it causes religious tensions. For this particular reason the modern historians of India, mostly from the leftist background, are probably indulging in the policy of silence, avoidance or cover-up about the Islamic atrocity in India. Yet, those who agree to the atrocities of the Muslim conquerors attempt to lighten the air by offering lame excuses such as temple destruction by the Muslim rulers were not because of hatred against the Hindus but for plundering the valuables and wealth kept there. But it is a fact that the Hindus hardly ever used to keep their valuable assets in temples. Neither does that explain as to why tens of thousands of Hindus were slaughtered on many occasions. Yet those Islamic historians, who chronicled the Islamic atrocities often under the patronage of many rulers and sometimes by the rulers themselves, never cited any such reason for the destruction of temples. Plundering the wealth kept in a temple does not require razing down the temples either. Such apologetic excuses also do not explain why mosques had to be build at the sites of many famous temples after their destruction. In fact, Indian Geological Survey has identified hundreds of mosques across India that used materials for construction from destroyed temples. However, recognition of those terrible tragedies that fell on the Hindus of India after Islamic invasion and during the Islamic rule is likely to go a long way in pacifying indignant section of Hindus. An apology would advance that cause immensely. Being grown up as a Muslim, I know there is a good deal of angst amongst Muslims against the Hindus because of the Hindu Zamindars’ oppressive and harsh activities in the days of the British rule. But the harshness caused by the Hindu Zamindars to Muslims is ignorable if compared to what happened to the Hindus in the days of Islamic invasion and rule of India. The Zamindars were harsh on the Hindu subjects as well - thanks to the British. However if Muslims can recognize the atrocities caused by the Islamic invaders and rulers on the Hindus, their own indignation against the Hindus vis-à-vis the Zamindari activities would surely be reduced, which can help strengthen relationship between both communities. Yet the facts about the Islamic atrocities, unrivalled in the history of India, are coming out into the public domain anyway - thanks to the historical details left by the Muslims historians and rulers themselves. The sooner the people of India and the Muslims in particular take steps to recognise those terrible atrocities to honor the victims, the better it is for harmonious relationship between the Hindus and Muslims living there.
MUSLIM ATROCITIES NEVER BRING PEACE BUT TERRORISM TO THE HIGHEST LEVELS…………..

Who is this Tingoo guy??
Perhaps this wannabe academic, who has, spurred on by his hatred for Muslims, cut and pasted excerpts from a dozen ‘clash of civilization’ style books written by a racist breed of white scholars who think that there can never be any culture of syncreticism, harmony or peaceful coexistence in this world, does not know that this thread was actually for the review of a film! A mediocre and clichéd film… but a film nonetheless. This kind of factually wrong, pro-western, fatalistic and communal mongering has no place here. In case you are interested, most of what you label ‘Muslim Crusades’ were local conflicts between the Jews, the Arabs who believed in their old pagan faith, Nazarene Christians and the newly founded religion of Islam. Just like when Christianity forced open the gates to Europe by converting the holy Roman emperor to their faith (that was built by Paul the apostle on lies murder, deceit and the misappropriation of pre-existing Judaic, Greco-Roman and Nordic Pagan beliefs), and destroyed the cultures and spiritual systems of everyone from Pharaohnic Egypt, Hellenic Greece and the Nordic paganistic and shamanistc peoples; and, just like the Vedic people conquered, killed, enslaved and bound the darker skinned Harappans, Gonds, Bhils, Dravidians and other indigenous peoples to the lowest rung of a cast hierarchy that is thriving till today in your ffn’g land of “Zero”; so too did Islam throw its weight about in its own neighbourhood. There is nothing new about the advent of Islam. Religion is about power, politics, land grabbing and the appropriation of history and antiquity, As Aristotle said (or was it Plato) that History belongs to the Victors. Look at the Mongols, they did not have any religion or scholarly traditions of their own, but still this bunch of Bow-arrow wielding nomads, averaging 5 feet 4 inches in height conquered a geographical landmass extending from China in the east to Rhineland in the west….how about that han???
Look at Greece, Rome, Germany, Britain, Spain, USA bla bla all had/ have Empires based on brutal terror and constant war, backed by the Papal seal.
I will say in conclusion that your kind of ideology comes from a deep rooted brown-skin complex and an identity crisis brought on by the tribulations and vagrancy of Urban living.
And finally please dont write fibs like Gandhi was killed by a Muslim !!!, Muslim kings killed 80 million (so-called) Hindus. And Im sure you know the fact that Aurangzeb was actually a psychopath who did the strangest of things like breaking temples and then giving the biggest land grant to a temple in Mughal history (look it up), like being an accomplished Vina player and then one day banning music from his court… Life is not all about black and white. Try finding some gray… and you will discover that the Rig Veda is full of ritualistic Cow- sacrifice and accords women the same position as domestic animals!
So please stop this cut-paste hatred and get a life…and oh yeah STOP USING FAIR AND LOVELY NOW!!! *****

***- Heroism based on false ownership and egocentricity is macho man made selfish breed of typical Hindustani man filled with power!
You carry false power in you!
Obviously you have only proven the fact that one Hindu puts down another Hindu and that in the absence of unity and unilateral humanity amongst Hindus, the reign of imperialism over India manifested successfully leaving India at a loss. One side of equation is that most of guys like you would flee India for the greed of MONEY to United States of America and call yourselves Indians living in GREAT AMERICA. Obviously, the likes of you will never ever be happy throughout your lifetime. Let alone grieving upon my sentiments. The issue here is not about you and me or us. I am NOT a HINDUSTANI. I am not born in India. I was born in Africa and AFRICAN I SHALL REMAIN. OUT OF MAMA AFRICA I COME. My ancestors may emanate from Rajesthan and Rajput I am. In historical sense, my grandfather taught me Indian History and Vedic astrology and since the age of 3 I have studied my culture. For you to come forth and criticise me blatantly and bluntly without any empirical evidences and cause and reason is indeed immature, selfish and childish. You have not grown and neither have you even been taught proper manners at home. Go back home might I suggest and try to learn some manners and inter-acting human sociology before coming out so aggressively and attacking me without any justice whatsoever. Every humanbeing in my country here in the UNITED KINGDOM has a privacy the right to believe and to state freely what one feels. We are so glad that we are not living in INDIA under the political confluences of your kind……….Indeed that is why India is corrupt and indeed that is why India is full of people like yourself who antagonise, rage and conduct selfish egocentricity at the expense of culture, religion and Vedas. If you are trying to educate me with Indian History from your perspective you have totally failed in your communication skills as well as your art of laying english literature. Try to talk to drunkards who have no clue of either and try to talk down at the low life of your kind and type. Do not ever ever in the future attempt to challenge me or to defy me on my integrity, intellectualism or even my standards because I am way beyond your childish pathetic pedantic and immature levels of being with the world at large.

It is about the Kunvarbai’s HeeraRani’s regimental supremacy and her knowledge and wisdom that was superior to Muslim emperor….
Patronising and provoking another is not the solution for INDIA that is torn apart and fragmented because of its lame history of imperialism and colonialism, invasions, and catastrophes of looting and consuming human dignity, human integrity and human self respect. This is the core issue of INDIA.
HOW INDIA LOST ITS WEALTH AND PROWESS AND MUCH MORE TO THE MUSLIMS, ARABS, WESTERN IMPERIALISTS BETWEEN 3000 AND 1000 AD - is mainly due greed, religious distortions, conversions, missionaries, compulsive conversions of Hindu;s to Muslims, and horrible wrath of slaughters by Muslim imperialists.

The movie can not be flawed in its making. A PLUS. The story line however is fabricated and somehow the twist of heroism and victory that is afforded to akbar is one sided. Not a single dance drama Rajesthani cultural song??????? If I am to be impartial about the movie: It were too much focused upon Islam culture and Islam religion. What was the purpose of the movie one might ask? India is already a fragmented country with loom of exploitation never ending in the name of religion. There are some of the Hindustanis who would sell themselves for money and security of welfare. Such being the case the movie has portrayed the Hindu Indians who would sell their daughters to rich emperors regardless of whether one is a muslim or not. The self-respect towards womanhood and more importantly Rajputlee Rajesthani princesses does come across as the truth that prevailed. It is a DAYDREAMING movie where first half is wasted in many wars which my children could not follow at all. For a family: this movie appeared dull, dreary and too demanding… My 15 year old said to me that he liked “TARE-ZAMEEN PAR” despite it made him cry so much……I frankly did not know what was I applauding in the end? Jodhaabai or Akbar? Akbar appeared to be an illiterate! Most of the INDIAN LOOT in the last 3000 years happened out of clash of culture and clash of hindu muslims so why show heroism that is actually a false heroism? I would detest the principle of the film but who cares….In India anything that could make a million bucks profit would be just fine…This is India for you! We the westerners are converting ourselves into Hindus so we can exploit your cultural values and religious goodies like the ornaments, natural resources, gems, and other goods, bring them over to the west and sell them at hiked up profits! You Indians on the other hand are seen to fight and antagonistically disagreee amonst yourselves and some of you are trying to be modernised in extremes forgetting the core roots and values of your own culture selling yourselves. Shall I Woo or pity is conclusion?????????????

Nearly 90 minutes of film is GROSS King Amitabh Bhachan speaking telling you bed time story. I fell asleep. Mum had to wake me up. Dad told me off. I am young and I have many Hindu friends. To convert and forcefully make another a Muslim; we go to heaven and the more we make Muslims the more Allah gives us. It is NOT true though. I am not sure if the historical facts are true. Watching the movie, it felt like A R Rahman has played more role in it with ALL his Muslim Melodies than the crew members. In a real world, the love of such a kind exists only in fairy tales. The poor albeit learned and wise, sob and dismally gaze at the stars only to be perplexed at the paradox of the movie in warfare, hatred, betray, bigotry, conversions, loot, ridiculous symphonies of Islamic culture as though the music wants to barren Rajesthan out of India. As a Rajesthani, I feel the hurt right deep inside my heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I AM OFFENDED SERIOUSLY BY THE FILM!

After much reluctance, I agreed to go and watch JodhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAkbar with my family. Ouch, what a rich making! Glitter! Glamourous! But all that glitters is NOT real gold is it? All the diamonds that sparkled with shimmering shine are no longer with India are they? So, why would I love JodhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAkbar as an epic of love story? Ancestry wise, seven generations ago, the movie is showing a false depiction of a portray that is fragmented in fullest form. Amitabh Bhachan being a literate figure of bollywood did not feel ashamed to even read the narration of the storyline? Wow! Bollywood is about “POWER”, “NAME”, “MONEY”. It no longer is the bollywood it used to be ten years ago. In bollywood today, it is whom you know NOT what you know that gets one success and fame. It is obvious, from the propanganda and many false presentations emerging from JodhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAkbar, why one would contemplate upon giving so much credit to the movie. The movie plays a definitive cinema proving that bollywood is an entertainment of the riches, the pleasuredom of the powerful people, and the platform of falsity. This is off putting, demeaning, and very discouraging indeed on my huge family comprising nearly 100 nephews and neices all of whom are highly cultured, highly literate, and extremely aware about the Indian history at large. None of my children [aka my nephews and nieces and cousins and others] thought the movie portrayed “TRUTH” or true story as per the anthology of Rajesthan…..A big shame and disgrace upon Amitabh Bachan first of all, a total pity upon Aishwarya Rai who threads upon poor mans integrity with her glitter and glamour, humble dismal depreciation of Rhithik Roshan, Salman Khan would have been better character! But ooops, Salman Khan and Aish could never be teamed up because she is the Rani, and he is the LOW class in the eyes of Rai. Hypocrites, liars, fools, shameless, pathetic power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why not make the title of the movie: “AKBAR-JODHAA” Hey! there was no Jodhabai! This fabrication is totally absurd for Cinema censorship board to even accept it. As for the REST: WELL: I WERE TRULY BORED AS I DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE STORY WAS ABOUT? WAS IT ABOUT A MAN AND A WOMAN FALLING IN LOVE? OR WAS IT ABOUT CONQUEST OF RAJESTHAN?
JAYA MATA DI JAY AMBE GAURI JAYA NAVA DURGA JAYA MAHA KALI JAYA VAISHNOODEVI, JAYA SHIVANI, JAYA HARI MAHADEVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY MAKE SUCH A MOVIE? WHY? WHY? WHY? AT WHOSE EXPENSE ARE YOU ENJOYING AND PLEASURING YOURSELVES? AT THE EXPENSE OF SATTIRANI?
WHY NOT ASHUTOSH AND AMBANI AND AMITABH BACHAN PAY THE MONEY THEY HAVE FOR THE Return the black gorgeous Narmadeshwara ShivaLingham [the stolen Shiva-Lingham from the Narmada temple] that resides in Mecca back to India WHERE IT BELONGS?
Why waste so much money in making such pedantic movie?
Why?????????????????????????????????????????
For those who cannot feel the hurt, no comments.
71. Rajiv
Jodhaa Akbar is a well-directed movie and will be appreciated by people who like historical stuff. One cannot expect a tapori to like this movie. The movie is well-directed but the first half is rather long.
72. Ashique
Hi everyone!!
I dont know much about the history but all i can say is this:
Its a Romantic movie..And a very good if I might add.. I read most of the reviews above.. With only respect in heart do i ask the Rajasthani People to forgive Ashutosh for his view on history.. You will have to understand that there are many who think his version moght be true.. Since its history no one can say what really happened.. All we know is through Texts and what is passed on for generations..
I beg you all to leave all that behind and watch this movie just as any other movie.. And see the magic.. You will love the chemistry between Hrithik, Ooops, Akbar and Jodha.. The way Hrithik is enchanted in the song Kwaja Ji.. The scene is amazing..
He has given his best to the movie.. So has aishwarya (She looks gorgeous!!) I know since its a very sensitive movie, People will react..
But please try to respect the people who made such a wonderful visual treat.. The song Azeem-0-Shaan Shehanshah!! Wow!!
Please do watch the movie!! Its an amazing one!!
73. Richa Senha
Each to his/her own….However, Rajiv and Ashique, you cannot compel and impose your ideals as though you were both set up to propagate the glory of the making of JodhaaAkbar upon those of us who understand and experience “Divine-beauty” in music, fine arts, and rhythm otherwise. If you both feel there was rhythm, dance and lore of divine pleasure in Khwaje-Khwaje song, thats your prerrogative. Here and there the movie lacks in structure, quality of choreography to be Rajesthani albeit made out of Rajesthani and it is rightful to correctly point out that POLITICS rule at the end of the day in Bollywood. Its not what is the truth or its not about what is the reality - many may like the movie and yes I would love to see the movie if it were balanced towards the cultural DANCE MUSIC of Rajesthani lore for Rajesthan was the enrichment of fine arts, culture, divine singing and dancing. Well, I do not know whom you are referring to as “TAPORI” and neither do i know the meaning of it. Whatever it be, my father, grandfather and father in law are all professors of history here in the U.K. universities. In their opinion, the movie was very BIASED, PERSONALISED VISION, and a PLAY in the garden of super rich of India. Of course, money talks and will talk louder than truth of us humble divine Brahmin Rajputs.
74. Jay Kumar
FROM ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS BHAVANS:
Akbar gave many officers highest gifts. JodhaaBai daughter of Maharaja Ambarsighna was captured by threat [not shown in the movie] to destroy Rajesthan. The Rajput soul remained unsold however [NOT SHOWN in the movie]. Until British Raj invaded India. Us Marathis and Maharashtrans saved Rajesthani Marathas and the descedants of our royalties are todate revered as rulers by the common humble Indian Man. Non shown in the movie. As for the songs dance, they were soooooooooooooooooo horrible and unenjoyable. Can you actually dance to the music??????????? Can you>? So, technically the movie lacked plenty of flowing choreography, script were poorly designed.
The Rajputs rose to prominence in the 9th and 10th centuries, and were a major force to reckon with medieval India. Passionately attached to their land, family and honour, the Rajputs treated war as a sport, and followed a strong chivalric code of conduct. Myths and legends of their valour, gallantry, sacrifice and courage are legion. There are many heroes among the Rajputs, such as Prithviraj Chauhan, who fought successfully against the invader Muhammad Ghori in the battle of Tarain (1191), although he died on the same battlefield in the following year. Or the great Rana Pratap of Mewar, who defiantly withstood the might of the Mughal, and continued to raid on them even after his defeat. He died in 1597, and his son, Ambar Singh, took over the mantle of opposition to Mughal rule. Rana Pratap was the lone exception, as most of the leading Rajput clans finally married into Mughal royalty and nobility, and went into direct State service of the Mughal Empire. This was chiefly at the behest of the wise and farsighted Mughal emperor, Akbar, who was able to consolidate and expand his empire because of his close ties with the proud Rajputs, the men who made formidable enemies and also steadfast and loyal friends. At the time of independence on 15th august 1947, Rajasthan was known Rajputana (country of Rajputs). It comprised of 18 Princely States, two chieftains and a British administered province of Ajmer-Merwara besides a few pockets and territories outside its main boundaries.
HEY THE MOVIE IS A ONE SIDED HISTORICAL PORTRAY OF THE REIGN OF ISLAMIC HEROISM!!!!!!!!! AKBAR MOGHUL KING MARRYING JODHAA DOES NOT READ TRUE..
75. Richa Senha
What you meant was: Jodhaabai ws forcefully married off like other princesses by pressure from the Muslim Moghuls. It were the only way they could impose their powers over the wealth of the Rajesthani royals.
Movie were looooooooooooooooong but then I would have been happier with three Rajesthani dance routines and minimisation of war scenes in the part one which dragged nearly everyone to sleep
76. desichick_usa
I really hate how the creators of this film tried to depict an illiterate, war-mongering muslim foreigner to be great for Hindustan(literally meaning Hindu nation.)
How can people ever dare to even think Jalal Uddin Muhammed to be Akbar? He never knew how to write, except with a sword in hand…..and never knew how to read…not even faces of pain and suffereing of hindus.
If he was soo great, and loved Jodha unconditionaly, then why did he marry several other hindus? including muslim women.
Marriage is a child’s play to these muslim ********. Just a big political compromise!!! They do not understand the bond of marriage. Islam alowes to divorce their women right after they recieved sexual intercourse from them (this type of marriage is equilvelent to prostitution called mutah.)
How can India praise a man who left no legacy behind besides war and hate? He was an unethical man….lusted for women; he was mainly a warrior and did not educate himself; he was an alcoholic, but still loves and obeys his religion? bullshit; also he married several times…so where did all the love go for his first wife?
This movie was disgusting….but I still love hrithik roshan…..he will always be Akbar ;-P
77. Harshu_Vyass
LO.O.L. I FANCY RITHIK ROSHAN BIG TIME ESPECIALLY WHEN HE WERE FLEXING HIS MUSCLES - I ALMOST HAD AN ******……..OH YES…
Hritik Roshan will always be NUMBER ONE……..
Rest: You are so divinely righteous in your factual statements.
Bollywood has become MUSLIM MASALA more than a platform to encourage fine arts, kathak dancing, classical music, classical bharat ntrityaam and it is so becoming eminently clear from the various strategies emanating from changes we see.
Dismally disheartened and totally saddened.

KAABA A HINDU TEMPLE TAKEN OVER BY MUSLIMS
KING VIKRAMADITYA INSCRIPTION ON A GOLD DISH HUNG INSIDE THE KAABA
In pure scientific study about the Historical Muhammadin Allah U Akbar raises basic questions concerning the prophet’s role as a moral paragon; the sources of Islamic law; and the God-given nature of the Koran. The scientists even doubt the existence of Muhammad. Scientists say that the Koran is a not a product of Muhammad or even of Arabia, but a collection of materials stitched together to meet the needs of a later age. There was no Islam until two or three hundred years after the traditional version at around 830CE. The Arab tribesmen who conquered in the seventh century vast territory were not Moslems, but were persons who worshiped idols and are scientists call them pagans.
Even though Prophet Muhammad was born in the full light of history the earliest document date about a century and a half after his death. Not only does this long lapse of time cast doubt on their accuracy, but internal evidence strongly suggests the Arabic sources were composed in the context of intense partisan quarrels over the prophet’s life. The earliest sources like papyri, inscriptions, and coins on the prophet’s life, contradict the standard biography. An inscription and a Greek account fix Muhammad’s birth in 552, not 570. Muhammad’s career took place not in Mecca but hundreds of kilometers to the north. Yehuda Nevo. The classical Arabic language was developed not in today’s Saudi Arabia but in the Levant.
Long before Islam came in to existence, Kaaba, in Mecca in Saudi Arabia was a pilgrimage site. The word Kaaba might have come from the Tamil Language which originated around 1700BC. In Tamil Nadu Kabaalishwaran temple is Lord Shiva’s temple and Kabaali refers to Lord Shiva. The black stone at Kaaba is held sacred and holy in Islam and is called “Hajre Aswad” from the Sanskrit word Sanghey Ashweta or Non-white stone. The Shiva Lingam is also called Sanghey Ashweta. So what is in Kaaba could be the same what Hindus worship. The pedestal Maqam-E-Ibrahim at the centre of the Kaaba is octagonal in shape. In Hinduism, the pedestal of Brahma the creator is also octagonal in shape. Muslim pilgrims visiting the Kaaba temple go around it seven times. In no other mosque does the circumambulation prevail. Hindus invariably circumambulate or Pradakshina, around their deities. This is yet another proof that the Kaaba shrine is a pre-Islamic. In Shiva temples Hindus always practice circumambulation or Pradakshina. Just as in Hinduism, the custom of circumambulation by muslim pilgrims around the entire Kaaba building seven times shows that the claim that in Islam they don’t worship stones is not true.
Allah was one of the deities in Kaaba long before Islam was founded. It might come as a stunning revelation to many that the word ‘ALLAH’ itself is Sanskrit. In Sanskrit language Allah, Akka and Amba are synonyms. They signify a goddess or mother. The term ‘ALLAH’ forms part of Sanskrit chants invoking goddess Durga, also known as Bhavani, Chandi and Mahishasurmardini. The Islamic word for God is., therefore, not an innovation but the ancient Sanskrit appellation retained and continued by Islam. Allah means mother or goddess and mother goddess.
The King Vikramaditya inscription was found on a gold dish hung inside the Kaaba shrine in Mecca, proving beyond doubt that the Arabian Peninsula formed a part of his Indian Empire. (Ref: page 315 of a volume known as ‘Sayar-ul-Okul’ treasured in the Makhtab-e-Sultania library in Istanbul, Turkey). King Vikrama’s preachers had succeeded in spreading the Vedic Hindu sacred scriptures in Arabia and Arabs were once followers of the Indian Vedic way of life. The annual fair known as OKAJ which used to be held every year around the Kaaba temple in Mecca and the present annual hajj of the Muslims to the Kaaba is of earlier pre-Islamic congregation. . Even to this day ancient Siva emblems can be seen. It is the Shankara (Siva) stone that Muslim pilgrims reverently touch and kiss in the Kaaba.
Muslims shave their head and beard and don special sacred attire that consists of two seamless sheets of white cloth. One is to be worn round the waist and the other over the shoulders. Both these rites are remnants of the old Vedic practice of entering Hindu temples clean and with holy seamless white sheets. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, the Kaaba has 360 idols. Traditional accounts mention that one of the deities among the 360 destroyed when the place was stormed was that of Saturn; another was of the Moon and yet another was one called Allah. That shows that in the Kaaba the Arabs worshipped the nine planets in pre-Islamic days. In India the practice of ‘Navagraha’ puja, that is worship of the nine planets, is still in vogue. Two of these nine are Saturn and Moon. In India the crescent moon is always painted across the forehead of the Siva symbol. Since that symbol was associated with the Siva emblem in Kaaba it came to be grafted on the flag of Islam.
The Hindu Vedic letter in Sanskrit “OM” if seen in a mirror one can see the Arabic numbers 786 and this is the most sacred number for Muslims and copies of the Arabic Koran have the mysterious figure 786 imprinted on them. In their ignorance simply they do not realize that this special number is nothing more than the holiest of Vedic symbols misread and none of the Arabic scholar has been able to determine how they chose 786 as the sacred for them. In short muslims are also going around Siva Lingam at Kaaba, seven times as Hindus go around it seven times.
A few miles away from Mecca are a big signboard which bars the entry of any non-Muslim into the area. This is a reminder of the days when the Kaaba was stormed and captured solely for the newly established faith of Islam. The object in barring entry of non-Muslims was obviously to prevent its recapture. Kaaba is clothed in a black shroud. This custom also originated from the days when it was thought necessary to discourage its recapture by camouflaging it.
Another Hindu tradition associated with the Kaaba is that of the sacred stream Ganga (sacred waters of the Ganges river). According to the Hindu tradition Ganga is also inseparable from the Shiva emblem as the crescent moon. Wherever there is a Siva emblem, Ganga must co-exist. True to that association a sacred fount exists near the Kaaba. Its water is held sacred because it has been traditionally regarded as Ganga since pre-Islamic times (Zam-Zam water).
THUS JALALUDIN MOHAMEDIN AKBAR the emperor who tried to conquer Rajesthan with his canny manipulative strategies of forming inter-cultural marriages between the Rajputanis and the Moslem invaders by force, captured many Rajesthani princesses and turned them into whores. From his third marriage to a Rajput princess, was born Salim who was married to Joddhaa aka KunvarRani’s daughter/ THERE RESTS MY CASE DEFENCE COUNCIL.

82. santosh
MARVELOUS…………….
One of the best presentation by Ashutosh Gowarkiar.
I think film makers should learn how to make such films from him.
Hrithik Roshan was really perfect as Akbar.
Aishwarya, looked so nice in the movie that i have no words.
she was looking so perfect as like in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas. One of the best film of her carreer.
A must watch movie of this time.
SUPER DUPER HIT……………

84. JaY_Deva
Supriti: You state your views: You do not and should not impose upon my views. Victor YES Hritik and Ash both look glittering. MY and our reservation as a group is NOT ONE HINDU CULTURAL DANCE???????WHY ONE SIDED - TECHNICALLY, FROM OUR REEL DEPARTMENT, IS IT NOT RIGHT TO CALL THIS MOVIE “AKBAR-JODHAA” AND NOT “JODHAA-AKBAR”. FOR A STORY THAT IS FAKE, FOR ACTING THAT IS FAKE, OVER DONE GIMMICKS, TOO MUCH BATTLEFIELD SCENERY YOU CALL IT TO BE LOVE STORY? IF YOU CALL THIS BEAUTY, WELL, BEAUTY IS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER AND I FOR ONE HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN A FAN OF AISHWARYA RAI….NOW WHAT..YOU GOING TO SUMMON ME INTO BECOMING HER FAN? SUPER SHITE FAKE MOVIE……….
85. SophieKing
Long, boring and cheap. Sluttish, without dignity, and insult to the Royals of Indian Continent. Seemed like a ********** being sold off for gains and ego and selfishness of manhood! As a woman, especially as a Hindu-Punjabi, the movie insulted my womanhood as a proud Hindu chaste woman. If you find this amusing, I feel “Laaga Chunari Mein Daag” was a little more dignified because at least she is sacrificing herself for the poverty of her family, her mother and her father and her sister but she does it with dignity and self respect.
IF ONE SHOULD SHOW STUPID INCORRECT INAPPROPRIATE HISTORICAL EPISODES, AT LEAST SHOW AKBARS FIRST TWO WIVES AND AT LEAST SHOW HOW JODHAABAI WAS TREATED SO BADLY………….IN REALITY AGAINST HER WILL LIES AFTER LIES SO MANY RAJPUTANIS WERE TAKEN AS SLAVES FOR PLEASURING AKBERS SENIOR MINISTERS…WHY NOT SHOW THOSE CLIPS.?????????
86. Sanil
After nearly 100 minutes my son asked me “Daddy who is Jodhaabai?”
When the movie finished: my son asked me: “Daddy why did Akbar not crown Jodhaabai to be his teacher because after all Akbar was illiterate and all he was doing was act like a puppet on behalf of Jodhaabai?>”
“Daddy I am very confused and very bored”.
“Daddy why are you bringing me to such a horrible cruel and boring movie”
87. RoyS
Cheap! I was “cheated” by so much glamourous publicity.
Regret having seen the movie.
HORRIBLE, BAKWAS, SHITE FILM EVER MADE….
88. ashwini
It takes a certain type of person to appreciate Jodha-Akbar. Certainly if you’re under the age of 13, there’s only so much you’d understand and you might feel that your time has been wasted. Same goes if you were expecting a masala filled flick. But for those of us who knew what to expect, I feel that the movie has lived up to all expectations. All of the actors did an excellent job- especially Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and several of the minor characters such as Akbar’s wet nurse (played by Ila Arun). The music by A. R. Rahman was truly outstanding- I had goosebumps during “Azeem-O-Shaan Shahenshah.” The cinematography is simply breath-taking, and the sword fighting sequences and the part where Akbar tames the elephant are amazing. Yes, it is a long movie- that’s why there’s an intermission, like in all 3 hour long Bollywood films. So it’s definitely not a “bakwas” film. Appreciate it for what it is- a historical fiction masterpiece.
89. ashish
absolute wonderful
Jodha AKBAR Is a not only a movie its a bonding between many beliefs n customs.. in this high time when maharastra is facing anti-north heat his movie is definately a treat for all indians. the grandeur of of the movie is really fanatstic from costumes to set and from music to performances this movie deserves a compulsory dekko for all whether he is a rajput or muslim.
the chemistry between hritik n aishwarya is absolute fantastic.. the director and the complete teams deserves kuddos for their efforts n pain to make a movie in a time when audience is expecting item songs even from main lead actress and where hindi and english both lost their relevance as hinglish.
don’t go by biased reviews of one critic of a english national daily who is anti-ashutosh and anti-aishwarya since she is a woman too.. she has badly critcised swedes too when the industry is appreciating it.. go by your senses n judegment n watch this movie for sure..
any yes ITS A SIN IF YOU WON’T THIS MOVIE IN A THEATRE..!! Jodha AKBAR is a visual treat to eyes must be seen in theatres.

Ashwini: Good for you! Great intellectual with great vision for great beauty! Congratulations to you for being outstanding LYRIC writer slagging off my younger siblings and judging my familyhood! Well Done! It only goes to show and prove that you have a cheap, undignified, inconsiderate and selfish attitude to life, one filled with passion for pleasure and lust at the expense of another’s dignity, integrity and self respect. The movie may appeal to you for three reasons: Firstly you are moved by all that glitters in glamour, riches, because obviously you have seen a very shallow lifestyle making judgement upon my siblings and my familyhood and my rajput rajesthani roots. Secondly, you have no identity of your own and most probably you have a background of weak foundations and weak family togetherness even….Thirdly, Ashwiniji, you measure greatness by desires, lust, passion, filth of degrading womanhood, and moreso cheapening the identity of my fellow Rajputanis. If such being the case yes I totally agree with you the movie was MIND BLOWING…..Extra ordinary and even breath taking. However, find another platform, another avenue at which you and your fellow tarts could exuber and exhale in your personal pleasure thinking not much about our sisters, and our Indian womanhood. I am a woman, an indian Woman albeit born and bred in Great Britain and for me reading your remarks makes me sick because our girls and our women here in Great Britain have better values for HINDU women than yourself. If you are trying to point a finger at my children and my family assuming and presuming that we are ignorants, foolish, stupid, and even illiterates, than you have just proven your point otherwise by demeaning your mass perception of our fine arts, prestigious standing in the field of fine arts with dignity [without touching essential personal religions] and moreso with sophistication, style, cliche parallel to none. That is why we have what is termed as “standards”, “policy”, “rules”, “regulations” and “systematic democratic procedures” that give equality to all regardless of culture or religion without demeaning or making another feel small - Obviously that is what your parents may have taught you from childhood - to make another feel small! So be it!

My name is Kiran and I am the fifth son of my parents from a big family in U.S.A. Tennessee. We own 90 hotels in the U.S.A all together and our family totals 300 persons including nieces, nephews, aunties, etc….We are united in one. Our only sister only daughter to our family Trishna was forcefully induced and mallaced by a muslim named Intehaz AkberHussein a reknowned millionare from Maast family a professional literate. Trishan fell in love with him and left us all against our wishes and our will in 1992. Today she has come back home after having 3 babies and betray from her husband beating her up for nearly five years. She sufferred in silence. Until the Islamic invasion into our family, we used to have harmony and joy of togetherness….Nearly after 17 years, we have a daughter who is totally ruined. Thanks to the richness of Islam and muslim conversion.
THERE ARE MANY EXAMPLES LIKE MINE: OUR DAUGHTERS, OUR SISTERS,OUR COUSINS, THEY ALL IN HIND SIGHT IGNORANCE GET MARRIED TO MUSLIMS AND ARE UNHAPPY EVENTUALLY…….FOR A MUSLIM, DIVORCE IS A RELEASE FROM BURDEN OF RELATIONSHIP AND TREATING WOMEN SUBSERVIANTLY IS THEIR CULTURE. IN JODHAA AKBAR, WHY IS THE ISLAM CRUELTY NOT EXTENDED TO THE WOMEN WHY HAS THE MOVIE SHY.ED FROM EXPRESSING THE CORE CRUELTY OF ISLAMIC FUNDAMENTALISM?
TRUTHFULLY AKBER HAS THREE WIVES
PLEASE CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY AND HOW INDIAN GOVERNMENT CAN TOLERATE THE REIGN OF MULSIM IMPERIALISM BUT MAYAWATI AND GANG DETESTED A MERE FUN SONG FROM AAJA NACHLE A MUCH MORE ENTERTAINING MOVIE OUT OF SPITE AND DIRTY FILTHY POLITICS…………..

For me $12 million is peanuts. Why make a big meldrama out of pocket money?????????????????
Would my $12million dollars restore back my sisters livelihood??????? Would it??????????????

Poor choreography of dances or lack of Rajesthani dances. Strangest music irritating. No charm in the essence of the substance despite all the expensive input. What a wasteful resources and what a wasteful expenditure. Charm and charisma is about character. Character was missing both in the beauty and image and screen deliverance from the main crew. My favourite character who displayed magnificently was Akbar;s mum who should get award in the movie. As for Ashwarya Rai, I am sorry but you looked like a ********** dressed up for her hooker. Rhitik was ****. I fancy Rhittik. Ashwarya is fake, manipulating canny woman and it shows very cleary from the read of her eyes. What did Abhishek Bhachan see in her?????? She is all glittering shimmering shinning gold plated but underneath it no humane substance…..planner who plans to write about her lover Salman Khan defaming him - Congratulations ASH, if this is your claim to success.

98. Ali_Hussein_Sheikh
What a joker director is! A muslim portray gone drastically wrong. Lot of errors and plenty of flaws: Firstly: We as muslim sheikhs and emperors never participate or entertain other religions for we believe ALLAH U AKBAR….
Secondly: We muslim royals never allow HINDU worship in our palaces full stop……where did the idea of Princess of Rajesthan coming to Akbars empire with her shrine emanate from?
Thirdly: Princess Rajputani HeeraKunvarRani was captured by the Muslim emperor……
Fourthly: Akbar JalaluDin Mohamedin Ali was already married thrice since age of 17. Fifthly: story line totally fabricated and not at all in line with the facts of the history. Sixthly: We Muslims are responsible for capturing a lot of wealth from Rajesthan in particular gold from Gold we started slave trade in middle east and from the exchange of slaves we took indian women as slaves. Seventhly: Pity on director.

To KumarSanuShreeMatiSarada:
Please don’t presume to make any comments on my character- you have absolutely no idea who I am and you cannot possibly make any assumptions about me from what I posted earlier. Plus, I did not make any comments on Indian culture, religion, art, women, etc. I was simply commenting on the film for what it was- a film. Maybe you’re reading in between the lines where there are actually no hidden messages. And as a parting comment (sorry to be nasty, but I’m just returning the favour): please take some history lessons (and some English lessons as well).

Excellent movie!! one of the best movies of recent times.Superb performance by Hrithik and Aish.
101. maina
Very beautiful movie. I just loved Aishwarya and Hrithik
102. Priyanka
Those who can interpret art can only interpret the movie in a right way. The movie should not be watched with having certain stereotypes in your mind. The disclaimer in the movie SHOULD set the spirit of the audience in the right track to watch the movie.
its beautiful. the movie’s screenplay is not isolated, its different stories bound up into a whole film. For talk sake 3 hrs 20 mins does seem long but nowhere in the movie you would wanna blame Ashutosh for it.
If someone calls the music boring, well you cant expect a disco number in it. the music goes with the movie. Acting is perfect by both Hrithik and Aishwarya.
The movie is sheer entertainment and not a reason to start a new hot topic of why’s and What’s and How’s?
These topics are favourites of one who have no employment and their best way to vent it out is violence.
The movie is not against any culture, any religion
but its just about how one should adapt everyones respect for God in their own personal way.
This is the basic moral of the movie and what harm did Ashutosh Gowarikar do by imparting it??
103. Jay_Deva
Hello:Ashwini: There is no need for you to be so uncivilised and inhumane. If you are a deprived in love, woman, I suggest that you carry out certain personality rejuvenation and self development upon yourself. Remove your anger, jealousy, and in the main bitter selfishness for pleasuring yourself and indulging yourself at the expense of a humble spirit of life.

YOU GUYS like the movie good on you.
Some of us we do not think it is a movie well made. We have our rights to express our views.
You have your rights to express your opinions and views.
No way we are suggesting that you are wrong. All we are suggesting is
