Aparna Sen to make a sequel of Mr and Mrs Iyer
Mumbai: Filmmaker and regional actress Aparna Sen is now thinking of making a sequel of the 2002 renowned film “Mr and Mrs Iyer” which had Rahul Bose and Konkona Sen Sharma. The story was about a Tamil Brahmin woman, Mrs Meenakshi Iyer, who helped her co-passenger Raja Choudhury by concealing his Muslim identity by giving him the identity of Mr Iyer, and thus saved his life from rioters.
The film won a lot of awards like Nargis Dutt Award. Konkona won the Best actress award for her role in the film and Aparna Sen was awarded with the tag of best director. Now, after 11 years, Sen wants to make a sequel of the celluloid saga. The film revolved around two strangers from different communities who came together in the backdrop of communal riot.
Aparna Sen who was present at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival for screening of her recent hit movie “Goynar Baksho” mentioned about her sequel making plans. She said it is still in the planning stage and whether she would take it to be her next project is not yet known. But she added that Rahul and Konkona would reprise the same characters in the movie. The mother and the daughter has delivered a lot of good films like “15 Park Avenue”, “Iti Mrinalini”, “Goynar Baksho”.
