Anil Sharma about his childhood and introduction to Hindi films
Mumbai: Filmmaker Anil Sharma is a great fan and admirer of superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. He launched beautiful and talented faces in the film industry like Priyanka Chopra and Ameesha Patel. He believes to survive in Bollywood one needs to be honest about his work and then only he can taste success. He is romantic by heart but short tempered person.
His forthcoming film “Singh Saab The Great” is almost ready for release. Anil says since childhood he saw many filmstars coming to his place as his grandfather was a renowned astrologer. He was just 5 years old when he got to watch the first movie in his life, and that was “Ganga Ki Lehrein”. And coincidentally when he went to Mumbai and submitted his first script, he met the producer of “Ganga Ki Lehrein” with whom he shared the incident and asked him the name of the hero in the film.
It was none other than Dharam ji. Anil started as a director with the movie “Shradhanjali” which had Rakhee Gulzar in lead role in 1981. His last released film was “Veer” in 2010. He not only launched Ameesha Patel in “Gadar Ek Prem Katha” and Priyanka in “The Hero – Love Story of a Spy”, but Zarine Khan too in “Veer”.
