Super-star Rajesh Khanna passed away!
Mumbai: First ever superstar of Bollywood, romantic Rajesh Khanna deserted all leaving entire film fraternity and movie lovers in tears. He breathed his last on Wednesday, the day after he was shifted to his residence ‘Aashirwad’ in Mumbai from the city’s Lilavathi Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for his illness. However his health detoriorated today morning following which he was put on ventilator support at his home ‘Aashirwad’ in Mumbai’s Bandra suburb.
On hearing the star’s demise many fans broke down. Condolences started pouring in from all quarters. Khanna”s cremation and funeral rites would take place this evening. Rajesh Khanna was born Jatin Khanna on December 29, 1942 in Amritsar. He was also a film producer and a politician. He appeared in 163 feature films. He was the lead actor in 128, including 106 as the solo lead hero.He won three Filmfare Best Actor Awards and was nominated for the same fourteen times.
He received the maximum BFJA Awards for Best Actor (Hindi) – four times and was nominated 25 times. He was awarded the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. Khanna made his debut in films in 1966 with Aakhri Khat and rose to prominence with his performances in films like Raaz, Baharon Ke Sapne, Ittefaq and Aradhana and Anand. He is survived by his estranged wife Dimple Kapadia and two daughters Twinkle and Rinkie.
Superstar Rajesh Khanna after suffering from cancer for a long time, has passed away. He left for his heavenly abode today, in the presence of all his family members and his friends and relatives. Dimple Kapadia, his estranged wife, daughters Twinkle and Rinkie, son-in-law Akshay Kumar, and grand children all were present when he left for the life after death. He led a life full of drama almost theatrical, he was hogging the limelight being a superstar and all of a sudden Khanna began to lead his lone life much distant from the arclights, living like a mere shadow for so many years.
In the 1970s, he was no less than a magician, creating magic onscreen with his aura and charm. His legions of ladies fans, were hysteric about Rajesh Khanna, when his name was pronounced the mob would go into a frenzy. Kaka, the name by which Khanna was better known as in the industry, was the highest paid actor of his times. He delivered back to back solo hit films, which is still an unbroken record. Till 1979, it was Khanna’s golden age, when he gave us blockbusters like “Kati Patang”, “Safar”, “Anand”, “Mere Jeevan Saathi”, “Amar Prem”. His fans swooned to see his charisma which was way beyond his acting in films.
