Mumbai: Even after many successful remakes of his films, producers haven’t been able to take Big B into their confidence. It was also rumoured that earlier Abhishek Bachchan was to be taken for the role of Vijay in the remake of Agneepath (1990) where his father had played the legendary part. Though the writer duo Salim-Javed are not too pleased with the plans for the remake of Zanjeer as they think it to be an infringement of creativity, Apoorva Lakhia, director of the remake of Zanjeer is already out in field seeking the Bachchans’ complete consent before starting his aspiring project. Taking a step further, he offered the lead role to Abhishek Bachchan before offering it to any other actor for that matter.
According to close sources, Abhishek has declined the generous offer by saying that his father has set benchmarks through his acting and he wouldn’t want to put himself being compared directly to his father’s work by not working in any of the remakes. Sources also confirm that Apoorva Lakhia has managed to convince Big B to appear in a cameo in the remake though he failed to announce the extent of Mr. Bachchan’s involvement in the remake.
The new movie is going to have Priyanka Chopra in for the role played by Jaya Bachchan in the old movie. As of now, Lakhia is relieved to have the blessings from the Bachchan family and is brightly looking forward to this exciting project.
