Kareena Kapoor’s Heroine not to be launched at Cannes
Cannes: It was rumoured that the first look of “Heroine” by Madhur Bhandarkar having Kareena Kapoor in the lead role will be out at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival. On last Tuesday, Bhandarkar wrote on his Twitter account that all such reports are false. They wont be visiting Cannes this year, since the whole team is busy till the end of May with “Heroine”’s shooting.
Last year at Cannes, Bhandarkar released the first look which had Aishwarya Rai in it, but due to Ash’s pregnancy, she opted out of the film, and in came Kareena Kapoor. Kareena plays the role of Mahi Arora, an actress who reached the zenith of success but now facing decline. Its going to reveal the underbelly of Bollywood. Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda, Divya Dutta, Sahana Goswami, also features in the film. Bhandarkar has extensively researched on the lives of Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor to make his “Heroine” complete and contemporary.
“Heroine” is magnum opus for Bhandarkar, and he has been contemplating on the subject ever since he entered the industry. It was always his wish to work with Kareena Kapoor in films like “Fashion” and “Page 3”, but Bebo somehow declined the offers without stating any reason.
