Madhur Bhandarkar faces casting couch charges
Mumbai: The Madhur Bhandarkar- Preeti Jain casting couch case has surfaced again in the limelight, eight years since criminal charges were filed against Madhur.
Madhur apparently will now have to face criminal trial as per the orders given by Justice Chavan in the Bombay High Court last week on Thursday. Justice Chavan rejected Madhur’s plea to stay the trial against him.
In September last year, Madhur had been found guilty of the alleged rape by the victim, model Preeti Jain and had been sentenced to trial by the Mumbai Metropolitan court. However, he was later immediately granted anticipatory bail in the month of November. Since then, Madhur had tried to buy time and appealed to the Bombay High Court to stay the criminal trial proceedings against him.
It all started in July 2004 when Preeti Jain had filed a complaint against Madhur alleging him of raping her repeatedly many times from 1999 to 2004 under the pretext of giving her false promises that he would cast her in his film and eventually even marry her. Let us wait and watch how this drama unfolds.
