Is Nupur Mehta involved in fixing scandal?
London: Bollywood actress Nupur Mehta whose name has come up at the center of the match fixing scandal as alleged by a UK Sunday tabloid has threatened to sue the British paper.
The London ‘Sunday Times’ edition of the newspaper featured an article which discussed the sting operation carried out by the paper on a Delhi-based bookie who appears to have come clean on the World Cup semi-final match between India and Pakistan as also other British domestic county matches being rigged. It claims that bookies have been using a Bollywood actress (name not mentioned) to lure the cricketers into under-performing or fixing the matches. A picture of Nupur with the face blurred also appears along with the article.
An infuriated Nupur said that these allegations were baseless. She feels angry that her name is being exploited for no reason and denies vehemently any links with any cricketer. She have met cricketers at parties but that’s about it, she does not know any of them personally, she rues.
She has threatened to sue the tabloid if her name is brought up or her picture is used. She has not done anything wrong and so she is not going to run away, she says fiercely.
