Irrfan KhanNew Delhi: Irrfan Khan may be a brilliant actor who has won accolades both in India and abroad for films like ‘Maqbool’, ‘Namesake’, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ etc but off-screen; he is quite shy and reserved. Irrfan usually stays away from the limelight generally preferring to talk only about his movies.

He may not be used to therefore to fans thronging around him or hounding him, shouting his name and hero-worshipping him.

This was quite evident last week, when Irrfan along with director Tigmanshu Dhulia and good friend Rahul Mitra went for a screening of his recent movie ‘Paan SinghTomar’ in Delhi.

After the screening, there was a thunderous applause. However much to the amusement of onlookers, one lady kept clapping long after the others had stopped. She even stood up later and praised Irrfan for his acting calling him an amazing actor.

Irrfan, quite averse to adulation, initially seemed embarrassed and at a loss for words. He just managed to get up, get hold of the mike and mutter a quick ‘thank you’ into it sheepishly. Tigmanshu and Mitra meanwhile chose to step back quietly and let Irrfan enjoy the center-stage.
