Superstar Dev Anand demised in London
London: The evergreen actor of Bollywood, Dev Anand passed away last night due to heart attack. Dev Sahab was 88 and he was in London for check up. For the past few days, he was unwell, he came to consult a physician with his son Sunil. Dev Anand begun his career in films in 1946 with Prabhat Talkies “Hum Ek Hain”.
Then he acted with the then popular actress Suraiya in a lot of films, and became a successful hero. “Ziddi” and “Baazi” were his most popular films in the early 50s. Some of his memorable films are “CID”, “Paying Guest”, “Jewel Thief”, “Johny Mera Naam”, “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”, “Guide”, “Des Pardes”.
This versatile actor has immensely contributed his masterly works to the Indian cinema and thus was honoured with ‘Padma Bhushan’ in 2001 and in 2002 with ‘Dada Saheb Phalke Award’. His film production company named ‘Navketan International Films’ has produced more than 35 films till now. His performances in “Kaala Pani” and “Guide” was appreciated highly and he was awarded the Filmfare Awards twice for these films.
Presently he was busy with an American film named “Song Of Life” which was to be shot in States. He was the main character in the movie.
