Censor Board gets tough on Ranbir’s Rockstar
Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor has acted in Rockstar which is a much awaited movie at the box office. But the Censor Board has cut down some audio visual effects in the movie. The movie is directed by Imitiaz Ali and is based on an ordinary boy’s journey from small town to stardom with a love story as a backdrop. The film is music based.
The movie has got a UA rating with some omissions at the Censor Board. The changes are- muting the explicit words “sex” and “b*****d”. They would have been allowed by the Censor Board if Rockstar would have been given an A rating. also a Hindi slang has been muted which is rampant in movie style among rustic movie directors like Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bharadwaj. The Censor Board has also done away with a reference of Tibet’s freedom from China. The board has asked Rockstar to delete or blur the flag which used to read as “Free Tibet”.
A source close to Rockstar is of the opinion that the Censor Board is wrong to take a sensitive issue like Tibet away from Rockstar which had made a reference to Tibetian freedom. Rockstar is a film based on rock music whose music has been directed by none other than Oscar Winner A.R Rehman.
