Shammi Kapoor passed away on 14th of August
Mumbai: Yester year Superstar, Shammi Kapoor passed away on 14th of August, at Breach Candy Hospital. Amitabh Bachchan tweeted about Shammi ji’s death, which happened at around 5 a.m.in the morning. Due to renal failure, Shammi ji was sick and was in hospital, soon after, he passed away.
Shammi Kapoor was at his peak form from the 1950s till early 1970s, during these years, Mr Kapoor delivered lot of superhit movies. “Jeevan Jyoti” in 1953 was his first film. “Sandwich” was his last film in 2006. Although Kapoor was shooting for “Rockstar”, his sudden death, has put a halt to the movie’s filming.
Shammi Kapoor’s tendency of gaining weight, unfortunately put an end to his filmi career as a hero, in 1970s. Shammi Ji has a son named Aditya Raj and daughter Kanchan. He was a symbol of playboy, flirty men in those times, and he rose to fame with “Teesri Manzil” opposite the beautiful Asha Parekh.
He was 79 years old when he passed away. Bollywood is mourning his death. This legendary actor, received a number of prestigious awards for his contribution to Indian film industry. Actors like Amitabh, Farhan Akhtar, Anupam Kher to name a few, have offered condolences to the Kapoor family.
