NGO lends a hand to SRK to quit smoking!
New Delhi: Health Related information Dissemination Amongst Youth (HRIDAY) – a non-governmental organization (NGO) said that it dispatched patches of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and a fact sheet relating problems associated with cessation of smoking to superstar Shahrukh Khan. HRIDAY’s group communication officer Nikunj Sharma confirmed this.
The Badshah of the Bollywood recently declared in an interview his resolve to quit smoking. Senior Director of the NGO Monika Arora said in the letter addressed to the megastar that he can be a role model to people willing to quit smoking but find it difficult to kick the habit. She added in the letter that by virtue of his sway over the masses in millions he by his actions (off-the-screen) can influence them by weaning them away from the hazardous habit of smoking.
Amit Yadav, one of the senior personnel from the NGO chips in by saying that it is now possible to quit smoking irrespective of the length of ones addiction to tobacco. He adds that the successful bollywood star who faced heavy odds in the early days of his life before climbing to the pinnace will also be successful in his resolve to kick the addiction to tobacco. He suggests that the bollywood films too chip in their share in dissuading people from smoking by refraining to show tobacco usage by the stars in the field.
