Arrest warrant issued against Preity Zinta
A Chandigarh court on Saturday issued arrest warrants against IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab co-owners actor Preity Zinta and industrialists Ness Wadia and Mohit Burman for failing to appear before the court in response to a summon.
The trio had failed to appear before the court on a complaint filed by the Registrar of Companies (ROC) accusing them of not filing the Indian Premier League (IPL) team’s balance sheets and annual returns.
Chief judicial magistrate JS Sidhu issued the bailable warrants against the three after they or their counsels failed to appear before the court.
The counsel of another co-owner and industrialist Karan Paul appeared before the court and submitted that Paul will be present in person on the next date of hearing.
The next date of hearing for the case was fixed on October 4.
The court had in April issued notice to the four co-owners of the IPL team, fixing July 24 as the next date of hearing.
The prosecution had submitted that the co-owners of the company had tried to conceal the financial position of KPH Dreams, which owns KXIP, from the public by not filing the balance sheets and annual returns.
