Teen Patti Movie Review
Star Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Ben Kingsley, R. Madhavan; Director: Leena Yadav; Rating: 3 out of 5.
Post the stupendous success of ‘Paa’, it seems Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is in an experimental mode. The vintage actor is just like an old wine that gets better with age! Amitabh Bachchan once again surprises us with his latest avatar – Professor Venkat Subramaniam, a mathematical wizard who is sick and tired of being constantly underrated by his community.
Frustrated the way he is undermined, the genius, one fine day decides to practically validate his experiments in the world of gambling and uses a group of students to try their hands at the game of card sharpening. A Leena Yadav film, ‘Teen Patti’ is taut, racy and a sleek thriller that comes with the right attitude and oodles of style. Also starring Ben Kingsley as well as R Madhavan and Shradha Kapoor, ‘Teen Patti’ pulsates with life-like characters that truly portray the nervous energies of the today’s youth.
With the portrayal of Einstein-like Venkat, Amitabh simply amazes us with his sheer virtuosity when it comes to character acting. In ‘Teen Patti’, Leena Yadav takes us on a thrilling journey to a dark gambling den where Big B applies the mathematical principals of probability in the game of cards. Card playing has its own hitch for when a game becomes an addiction, it can lead to fatal circumstances as with money comes avarice, and avarice leads to deceit.
With most part of the movie unfolding on the gambling table, the taut thriller ensures that it does not digress and end up being a predictable affair. ‘Teen Patti’ is an absolute treat for Amitabh fans. R Madhavan and Shradha Kapoor are interesting to watch and so is the case with Ben Kingsley. Salim-Suleman’s music suits the script and so does the sizzling item number ‘Neeyat Kharab Hai.’ In all, ‘Teen Patti’ is a great watch this weekend.
