Dr. Shahrukh KhanLast year, Shah Rukh Khan received the Malaysian title of Datuk, which is comparable to British knighthood, thereby becoming the first international actor to be conferred the title. Now, he has been chosen for an honorary doctorate from Britain’s University of Bedfordshire later this year.

He was chosen by the NGO Routes to Roots, a member of the World Association of Non-Governmental Organization (WANGO) that works closely with universities and educational trusts in various countries, said a press release. Shah Rukh is enthused about the conferral and will be presently personally to receive it.

It is because of Shah Rukh’s immense philanthropic work for the underprivileged that he was chosen for the title, as he has his head and heart in the right place inspite of so much success, reports say. He has done much for the downtrodden and continues to quietly pursue a lot of charitable work without creating a hue and cry about it in the industry. This is what was noticed by the jury while nominating him for the title.

The University has many Indian students studying there; we bet they are looking forward to having Shah Rukh Khan as their fellow alumni!
