Shilpa Shetty latest to join IPL bandwagon
Shilpa Shetty buys 12 percent in IPL’s Rajasthan Royals. Bollywood superstar Shilpa Shetty has reportedly bought 12 percent stakes in IPL’s Rajasthan Royals team. The team won last year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament beating Mahendra Singh Dhoni led team.
Shilpa Shetty and her boyfriend Raj Kundra who reportedly lives in Britain have bought approximately 12 percent stakes in the Rajasthan Royals team that is headed by Shane Warne.
Shilpa is the third Bollywood actor to have been involved in the IPL. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan owns Kolkata Night Riders and Preity Zinta owns IPL’s Mohali team.
Born in 1975 in a Tamil family, Shilpa has come a long way. A successful actress, a budding Yoga Guru and now a producer, she seems to have conquered uncharted ways so far.
Her Yoga DVDs have been a huge success and Shilpa must have earned a lot of money from the sale proceeds of the DVDs. Her yoga clips were launched for mobile phones as well early last month in association with almost all the leading telecom operators.
Shilpa Shetty’s big moment in 2007 came when this leggie from Bollywood won the celebrity Big Brother. The Big Brother that developed racial overtones just a couple of days into the reality show, was won by a thumping majority by Shilpa Shetty. During the course of the show and the controversy that ensued during the show, Shilpa became a celebrity in UK too.
Shilpa won around thirty one million Indian rupees as a reward money for winning the reality show.
She has been in the news for one thing or the other since she won the show. The Bollywood actress who has acted in some fifty movies. After making her debut with Baazigar she has acted in some memorable films like Aag, Dhadkan, Rishtey, Phir Milenge, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Aao Pyar Karen, Hathkadi, Auzaar and Garv.
She has also done a successful DVD on Yoga, Shilpa Yoga that has been a huge hit among Yoga lovers across the world.
Shilpa will also be the brand ambassasor of the defending champions of the Twenty20 tournament. She said she would have a role in the team’s promotional activities this year.
“I will be promoting the team. Perhaps a music video will also come,” she quipped.
