The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) strike had not only affected the film industry but also TV shows. According to sources, Drona’s lead actress Priyanka Chopra was supposed to be the guest judge at the grand finale of the reality dance show Aajaa Mahi Vay. However, due to poor performance of the film at the box office, the producers of the show replaced Priyanka with Karisma Kapoor as the celebrity judge, even though promos were shot with Priyanka.

The grand finale of Aajaa Mahi Vay that was initially planned to be aired on October 5 had to be postponed to October 12, due to the strike. Our source from Contiloe Productions said, “Yes, Priyanka had shot the promos. We had also decided upon a Drona contest, wherein the jodis were to show their love for each other. Because of the FWICE strike, the show had to be postponed.”

According to the source the channel insisted that Priyanka be the judge, but the production house felt that this being Priyanka’s third flop in a row it would be better to replace her. It is also heard that when the producers called to inform Priyanka, the actress was relieved as she didn’t want to be associated with Drona anymore.

When contacted, Anupama Mandloi, Creative Head of Star Plus said, “Since Karisma Kapoor is already judging Nach baliye 4, we decided to have her on Ajaa Mahi Vay’s grand finale too. She is apt to be the guest judge.”

When asked if Priyanka’s continuous flops is the reason for her replacement Anupama replied, “There is no reason to drop an actor on the basis of their films’ performance at box office. It was unfortunate that the revised date did not match with her availability.”

When contacted, Priyanka’s secretary Natasha said, “This is not true. Why would Priyanka not want to talk about Drona?”
