I love cricket and I was there to support my team: Deepika Padukone
She’s a supermodel making her crossover into films, and now she’s the cover girl for this month’s Indian edition of Vogue magazine.
Deepika Padukone — soon to be identified as Shanti in Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om — has graced many covers already, but she’s understandably excited about staring at you from the cover of the fashion Bible of the world.
“I am really happy to be a part of this international magazine and to be associated with it. I am happy it has come to India,” says she.
In the news currently for catching the fancy of the Indian cricket team’s skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Deepika was spotted attending the recent India-Australia Twenty20 match in Mumbai, on invitation from the Captain himself.
The actress, when asked about the mutual admiration society she shares with Dhoni, doles out a cryptic response.
“Well that you should be asking him. I had gone to see the cricket match as any other spectator. I love cricket and I was there to support my team,” says she with a smile.
First upcoming actor Nihar Pandya, then star-kid Ranbir Kapoor, and now Indian skipper Dhoni — Deepika’s list of admirers keeps growing by the day. And this, even before the release of her first film. Looks like she’s going to need bodyguards to fight off the men very soon.
